Steel Testing Laboratory performs a wide range of chemical and mechanical testing to ensure that customers are in possession of the data necessary to meet their application’s needs.
The billets are cut using oxyfuel cutters to the desired length. They are then stored in the billet storage area or directly transferred to the mill.
At the entrance to the mill, the billets are heated in a furnace to a temperature of about 1200°C for the rolling process.
Rolling is done through gradual reduction of the section through cylinders and carbide rollers. The product undergoes a final heat process to acquire desired mechanical characteristics.
After hot rolling, the final product is quenched and tempered to achieve the desired mechanical properties. Then the bars are cut with shears and transferred to a cooling bed.
